Although the first Air-King was released in 1945 as reference 4925, the Air-King reference 5500 is one of the most iconic models that Rolex has produced. The 5500 was not released till 1957 and while being in Rolex?s production for 37 years, minimal changes were made to this collection of watches. This eventually led to the Reference 5500 being one of the more classic watches of Rolex.
