    Description

First staged in 1950, the Carrera Panamericana was a notoriously dangerous and grueling 3,000-kilometer race across Mexico. During five adrenaline-packed days, drivers sped through all kinds of terrains with their speedometers averaging 150 km/h. The race ended in 1954, but its legacy has lived on through the Carrera collection since Jack Heuer gave its name to the iconic chronograph in 1963. Confident and daring like the drivers who raced the Panamericana, the TAG Heuer Carrera is a racing icon. Jack Heuer infused his fondness for modern architecture, design and motorsports into the first original Heuer Carrera, reference 2447, in 1963. 60 years on, functionality and legibility are still the driving concepts of this collection geared for the tracks. In the 1970s, Jack Heuer convinced Ferrari Formula 1 drivers Niki Lauda, Ronnie Peterson and Arturo Merzario to wear his Heuer Carreras.
