Hamilton was founded in 1892 and specialized in pocket watches originally. It became evident during WWI that pocket watches were simply not practical for combat. Hamilton responded to this by producing its first wristwatch in 1917. The brand is known for its combination of Swiss precision and reliability and heavily reflected American heritage.
