Vik Muniz?(born in 1961) started his career as a sculptor, and quickly moved on to photography and drawing. His work is part of prestigious collections such as the Tate Modern in London, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In addition to his mixed media artwork, Muniz is also known for his engagement in social justice issues. His movie Waste Land, which unveils the life of garbage pickers in Brazilian landfills, was nominated for the Oscars in 2011, and he is a UNESCO ambassador for human rights.
