Released in 2019, the Air Max 97 x MSCHF x INRI “Jesus Shoes” is a custom design and was engineered by Brooklyn marketing agency MSCHF. With 60cc of holy water injected into the Max Air unit, the pair allows you to walk on water. The upper is built with mesh and leather, in a pristine white and light blue, and features a contrasting gold crucifix lace jewel. MSCHF branding can be found on the left heel tab and “INRI” ? which stands for Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, and was inscribed on the cross ? is on the right heel tab. The lateral forefoot nods to Matthew 14:25, the biblical chapter that references Jesus? ability to walk on water.
