Fashion and streetwear have been alongside Michael Lau?s artistic practice and he has been a collaborator with Nike since 2006. The initial release debuted in conjunction with the artist?s ?COLLECT THEM ALL!? exhibition.
The shoe takes inspiration from the characters seen in Michael Lau?s work, and fuses them with the iconic Blazer low silhouette. The upper is constructed of canvas fabric, a textile that is ubiquitous in painting and is often the surface of choice for Lau. The canvas is cut into different pieces and comes together to create a unique shoe with a collage feel. The shoe sits on a white midsole with industrial-style staples found at the outsole. Lau incorporates more art world details such as the auction house-style lot card design on the right heel tab, and includes a special wooden crate shoebox featuring Nike branding.
