Pre-owned Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Apollo XIII 25th Anniversary ref 3595.52.00 (1995 – 1996). Many passionate collectors already know that the Speedmaster was the first wristwatch worn on the Moon and that it went to space numerous times. However, some might not know that the Speedy played an integral role in the safe return of the ill-fated Apollo 13 mission. The astronauts used the legendary chronograph to ensure a safe re-entry after an explosion on board damaged the instruments of the command module. Omega received a coveted Silver Snoopy award from NASA for its role during that mission. Ref. 3595.52.00 pays homage to the 25th anniversary of Apollo 13 by displaying the mission’s patch at 9 o’clock. It was produced in quantities of 999, and we have a very handsome example for sale today in excellent secondhand condition.
