In 1993, the first Royal Oak Offshore was released as an anniversary celebration of the classic Royal Oak that was launched in the 1970s. The Royal Oak Offshore goes back to 1989, when Audemars Piguet designer Emmanuel Gueit demonstrated a sketch of the Royal Oak. This larger and sportier watch was designed for watch collectors who are affectionate for a larger case. The Royal Oak Offshore, known as “The Beast,” was nicknamed due to its size and weight. The Royal Oak Offshore quickly became the top contemporary model.
