Over the past years, Cartier has created countless iconic watches with elegant yet distinctive forms: Tortue (tonneau form), Baignoire (oval shaped), Santos (square) and the classic Tank (rectangular) which just celebrated its 100th birthday in 2017. According to Cartier, the first Baignoire emerged in 1912 and the official Baignoire was introduced in 1957. It is an elegant ellipse uniquely forged in a single line, and often set firmly in the realms of jewelry. The curved case features elongated numerals that’s typical of Cartier typography, yet it offers a new take on how to balance an oval-shaped dial.
This vintage Baignoire is a yellow gold quartz wristwatch, circa 1990. Highly attractive and rare, the present yellow gold Baignoire is studded with diamonds, with a bracelet decorated with enchanting amethysts and diamonds. The rarity of the watch is amplified due to the “convertible” folding clasp, which can cleverly be removed and converted into a bracelet.
